Privacy Policy for Reciepie Mobile App
Effective Date: 15.04.2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to Reciepie! This Privacy Policy describes how Igor Kirnosov s.p. ("we," "us," "our," or "Reciepie"), the operator of the Reciepie mobile application (the "App") and related services (collectively, the "Service"), collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our Service. Our website ( https://reciepie.app ) provides related information, but this policy specifically governs the App.
Your privacy is important to us. By downloading, accessing, or using our App and Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information necessary to provide and improve our Service. We do not use third-party analytics services primarily focused on cross-site tracking (like general purpose web analytics) within our App, though operational and diagnostic data is collected as described below. The types of information we collect include:
- Information You Provide Directly:
- Account Information: When you register for an account, we collect your email address. This is managed through our authentication provider, Clerk. If you sign up using Google or Apple Sign-in, these services provide us with your email address based on your permissions with them.
- Recipe Generation Inputs: When you use the Service via the App to generate a recipe, the information, prompts, ingredients, or criteria you enter ("Prompts") are sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) to process your request. We do not store these Prompts on our servers after the recipe generation process is complete.
- Saved Recipes: If you choose to save a recipe generated by the Service, we will store the content of that saved recipe in our database (Convex), associated with your account. We only collect and store recipes that you explicitly save. AI-generated recipes that you do not save are not stored by us.
- Payment and Subscription Information: If you purchase a subscription or premium features within the App, the transaction is processed through the platform's official store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). We do not directly collect or store your full payment card information (like credit card numbers). The respective App Store processes your payment according to their terms and privacy policy. We receive transaction confirmations, subscription status, and necessary identifiers from the App Store to manage your subscription and provide you with the purchased features.
- Communication Preferences: If you opt-in to receive updates or marketing emails, we collect your email address for this purpose via our email provider, Resend.
- Support Communications: If you contact us for support (e.g., via email), we may collect your email address and the content of your communication.
- Information Collected Automatically (for Service Operation, Security, and Improvement):
- Usage and Log Data: Like most mobile applications and online services, our servers automatically record information ("Log Data") created by your use of the Service. Log Data may include information such as your IP address, device type, operating system version, App version, unique device identifiers (where permitted and necessary, e.g., for push notifications or security), crash reports, date/time stamps, and details about how you interact with the App features (e.g., button taps, screens viewed, feature usage frequency). This data is primarily used for security monitoring, service operation, diagnosing technical problems, and improving the App's performance and features.
- Device Storage and Similar Technologies: We use mechanisms necessary for the functioning of the App. These may include:
- Authentication Tokens: To keep you logged in securely (managed by Clerk SDK, Google Sign-in SDK, Apple Sign-in SDK). These are typically stored in secure device storage, not traditional browser cookies.
- Session Data: To maintain your state as you navigate the App.
- Preferences: To remember choices you make within the App (stored locally on your device or associated with your account).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain the Service: Operate the App, authenticate users, process your Prompts via Google Gemini to generate recipes, allow you to save and access your chosen recipes, manage accounts and subscriptions.
- To Process Transactions and Manage Subscriptions: Facilitate subscription purchases and validate subscription status through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- To Communicate With You: Respond to your inquiries, send service-related announcements (e.g., account verification, changes/updates to features, technical notices), and send optional update emails if you have opted-in via Resend.
- For Security and Prevention of Fraud: Monitor for suspicious activity, protect the integrity of our Service, and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
- To Comply with Legal Obligations: Fulfill legal requirements, respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
- To Improve the Service (Internal Use Only): Analyze usage patterns internally (e.g., frequency of feature use like recipe saving, error logs, screen flows) using server logs, diagnostic data, and database information (like counts of saved recipes, but not the content unless necessary for troubleshooting) to understand how the Service is used, identify bugs, and determine areas for improvement. This analysis does not involve external behavioral tracking tools.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (for EEA/UK Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK), our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described above will depend on the personal information concerned and the specific context in which we collect it:
- Performance of a Contract: Processing is necessary to provide the Service you requested (e.g., account management, processing Prompts for recipe generation, storing and retrieving saved recipes, managing subscriptions).
- Consent: Where you have given consent (e.g., for optional update emails via Resend, or the explicit action of saving a recipe). You can withdraw consent at any time (e.g., by deleting a saved recipe or unsubscribing from emails).
- Legitimate Interests: Processing is necessary for our legitimate interests (e.g., security, internal service improvement based on aggregated/anonymized usage data, responding to inquiries), provided these interests are not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.
- Legal Obligation: Processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, under strict confidentiality agreements, or as required by law or for platform functionality. These include:
- Authentication Provider: Clerk (manages user accounts and stores email addresses via their SDKs/APIs).
- Third-Party Sign-In Providers: Google and Apple (if you use their sign-in options via their SDKs, subject to their privacy policies).
- AI Provider: Google Gemini (processes your recipe Prompts transiently via API calls to generate recipes. We do not share your saved recipes with Google Gemini. Your Prompts are subject to Google's data handling policies).
- Platform Stores (Payment Processing): Apple App Store and Google Play Store. These platforms process your payments for subscriptions made through the App. We share necessary transaction identifiers with them to initiate the purchase, and they provide us with confirmation and subscription status data. They handle your payment details according to their own privacy policies.
- Email Delivery Service: Resend (sends optional update emails if you opt-in).
- Database Provider: Convex (hosts our application database containing user data like emails and your saved recipes).
- Legal and Safety: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we have a good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
- Business Transfer: If Reciepie is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your Personal Information (including saved recipes) may be transferred as a business asset. We will provide notice before your Personal Information is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect the security of your personal information, including your saved recipes. We rely on the security measures implemented by our third-party providers (Clerk, Google, Apple, Resend, Convex, hosting provider, and the security of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for payment processing). However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage (including on-device storage or data transmission from the App) is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service via the App.
- Account Information (Email): Retained until you delete your account.
- Prompts & Unsaved Recipes: Not retained by us.
- Saved Recipes: Retained in our database (Convex) as long as your account is active or until you choose to delete the specific recipe or your entire account.
- Subscription Information: We retain subscription status information (e.g., active/inactive, expiry date) and transaction identifiers provided by the App Store/Google Play for as long as your account is active and potentially longer as necessary for financial auditing, reporting, customer support, and legal compliance. We do not retain your full payment card details.
- Usage and Log Data: Typically retained for a limited period (e.g., days or weeks) for security, troubleshooting, and operational purposes, after which it may be deleted or anonymized/aggregated for internal analysis.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data (including saved recipes) as described in Section 8. Account deletion can usually be initiated from within the App settings or by contacting support.
8. Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Access: Request access to the personal information we hold about you (including your saved recipes). This can often be viewed within the App.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information (primarily your account email, usually manageable via account settings in the App).
- Right to Erasure (Deletion): Request deletion of your personal information (including your account and all saved recipes), subject to certain exceptions (e.g., legal obligations). You may be able to delete individual saved recipes directly through the App, and account deletion might be available in App settings or via support request.
- Right to Restrict Processing: Request restriction of processing under certain conditions.
- Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your saved recipes in a structured, machine-readable format (where technically feasible).
- Right to Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

- Right to Lodge a Complaint: Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe our processing infringes applicable data protection laws.
To exercise these rights, please contact us at reciepie.app@gmail.com. We will respond to your request in accordance with applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request, which might involve confirming details via your registered email address.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information, including personal data (like your email and saved recipes), may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers and servers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. This is because we and our third-party service providers (like Clerk, Google, Apple, Resend, Convex, hosting providers, and potentially components of the App Store/Google Play infrastructure) operate globally. By using the App and Service, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing in these locations (including, for example, the United States). We rely on mechanisms like Standard Contractual Clauses or the providers' certified compliance with frameworks like the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (where applicable) to ensure adequate protection for transferred data when required by law.
10. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions like the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App (e.g., in an 'About' or 'Legal' section) and potentially on our website. We will update the "Effective Date" at the top. We may also provide notice through email (if you've provided one) or an in-app notification prior to the change becoming effective, especially for material changes. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted (either in the App or on the website, as indicated).
